Principal Message
Dear Rock Creek Community,
I am honored and grateful for this wonderful opportunity to serve as your new Principal at Rock Creek Elementary. I know that this feels very abrupt and challenging to be welcoming a new Principal at the beginning of October, but I am dedicated to continuing the great work that has been done by previous administrators and is being done now by the amazing staff. My passion is centered on service towards the staff, students, and families to create an environment of inclusion and interdependence. I look forward to getting to know each of you better throughout the next few years as we will work together to create the best school experience for your students.
I started my educational career moving to Gilbert, Arizona as a High School Biology teacher. While I enjoyed my time there, I was not a big fan of the poisonous scorpions! My family and I moved to Frisco, Texas where I continued teaching High School Biology. It was in Frisco where I also started my career in administration as a High School Assistant Principal. I was part of an amazing team that opened up a brand new school, Reedy High School. However, the Pacific Northwest continued to call me back home and thankfully I was hired by the Beaverton School District to be the Assistant Principal at Westview High School. It has been amazing to be back home in Beaverton enjoying each of the seasons. I love to spend time with my family outdoors on walks, bike rides, canoeing, hiking, coaching soccer games, and riding my motorcycle.
Most recently I was fortunate to work at William Walker Elementary School where I just started my 2nd year. My heart is set on the elementary level. I can never go back to high school level. It is such a joy to participate in the early stages of a student's educational journey. I look forward to continuing my own journey, learning more every day about the elementary experience from each of you and our students. Some of my most favorite memories so far at the elementary level are reading with students, playing wall-ball and foursquare with the students during recess, and being a DJ for our school dance. I am thrilled to be part of the Rocket Family as we partner together to create positive and lasting memories for our students and community. Go Rockets!
Sincerely,
David Westhora
